Deze webbrowser maakt deels gebruik van Internet Explorer maar voegt daar extra functionaliteit aan toe, zoals een pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, een zoekbalk en de mogelijkheid om het uiterlijk van het programma aan te passen door gebruik te maken van skins. Een deel van deze mogelijkheden worden ook door versie 7 van IE aangeboden, maar Avant Browser werkt samen met IE vanaf versie 5.5. Sinds versie 11 is het mogelijk om je profiel on-line te bewaren, waardoor je overal toegang hebt tot je bookmarks, rss-feeds en instellingen.

Met Skype is het mogelijk om door middel van tekst, spraak of beeld, of een combinatie daarvan, over een internetverbinding met andere Skype-gebruikers te communiceren. In versie 4.2 is onder andere de geluidskwaliteit verbeterd in situaties waar slechts beperkte bandbreedte beschikbaar is, kan er van 720p high definition video gebruik gemaakt worden en is de standaardinstelling voor instant messaging nu ‘alleen voor contacten op mijn lijstje’, om zo de privacy beter te waarborgen.

Update KeePass Password Safe 2.13

Met deze opensource-passwordmanager kunnen accounts worden opgeslagen inclusief de bijbehorende gegevens, zoals gebruikersnaam, wachtwoord en url. Alle gegevens worden veilig in een met het Rijndael-algoritme versleutelde database opgeslagen. Verder kan het programma ook automatisch wachtwoorden genereren en lijsten in- en exporteren. Door het toevoegen van dit taalbestand kan het programma ook in het Nederlands worden gebruikt.
Van KeePass Password Safe bestaan twee verschillende uitvoeringen. Versie 1.x heeft geen andere programma’s nodig en werkt alleen onder Windows. Versie 2 maakt intern gebruik van xml en heeft verder minimaal versie 2.0 van het .Net Framework of versie 2.6 van Mono nodig, waardoor het programma onder Linux, Mac OS X of FreeBSD kan worden gebruikt. Update ZipGenius 6.3.1.2610

Met ZipGenius kunt u bestanden comprimeren in meer dan twintig verschillende formaten. De tool biedt vijf verschillende compressieniveaus en is in staat .exe-bestanden te creëren die zichzelf uitpakken. Verder zijn bestanden te beveiligen met encryptie. De interface is met zijn grote, kleurrijke knoppen zeer duidelijk. Desgewenst kunt u kiezen voor de ‘Explorer view’, waarbij de tool het uiterlijk krijgt van de Windows Verkenner. U kunt dan naar bestanden navigeren en deze eenvoudig met de muis naar het comprimeervenster slepen. Veel eenvoudiger wordt compressie niet.
U kunt bestanden naar een back-upmap exporteren of direct vanuit ZipGenius als attachment aan een e-mail toevoegen. Ook bevat de software een geïntegreerde FTP-client voor het uploaden van bestanden naar een FTP-server, zodat anderen ze eenvoudig kunnen downloaden.
Ook kan ZipGenius uit de voeten met ISO-bestanden, Exe-bestanden, de OpenDocument-bestandsindeling die OpenOffice.org gebruikt en XPI-extensies van Firefox.
ZipGenius is geïntegreerd in de Windows Verkenner, zodat u met de rechter muisknop bestanden kunt inpakken of uitpakken. Ook heeft ZipGenius de mogelijkheid om archieven te versleutelen en te testen op fouten.
Verder kunt u met ZipGenius heel eenvoudig backups maken van uw mail in Outlook Express en Thunderbird en uw favorieten uit Internet Explorer en bladwijzers in Firefox. Als extraatje kunt u ook een slideshow van uw foto’s maken met ZipGenius.
